Frederick Wheeler VYNER
"Wereboldera"
Mr & Mrs Robert & Laura Vyner's son, Frederick Wheeler VYNER was born on the 17th January, 1818, in Eathorp, Warwickshire, England. - Frederick arrived in Australia on the 20th December, 1839, in “Euphrates” - He married Miss Margaret Jemima ROBINSON in Tumut, NSW, on the 8th November 1843 - Records show he died on the 23rd March, 1896. - (Ref- http://www.thomasl.com/lloyd/vyner.html).
He came to Australia as a young man and had ties to the land through his father-in-law Mr James Robinson, (Sen) owned the "Coppabella Station" which was situated on the Murray River. Fredericks brother-in-law James Robinson, (Junr) owned the "Kimo Station" at Nangus, via Gundagai.
Mr Vyner was to move to the Tumut area where he had the opportunity of taking over a very large portion of the Shelley Lacmalac land. He held the land under a "Grazing Licence". Some details of a Grazing Licence are set out below.
CROWN LANDS REGULATIONS - SECT 24 Renewal of grazing licence 24. Renewal of grazing licence
(1) A grazing licence may, at the discretion of the Minister, be renewed from time to time for a period not exceeding 12 months.
(2) The holder of a grazing licence may make application for renewal of the licence at any time within 30 days before the date of the expiry of the licence.
(3) An application for the renewal of a grazing licence shall be accompanied by the prescribed renewal fee and the amount payable as rent under regulation 14(4).
(4) The Minister may approve an application for the renewal of a grazing licence upon the same conditions as those to which the original licence was subject or upon other conditions or may refuse the application.
(5) For the purposes of regulations 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21, an application for the renewal of a grazing licence shall be deemed to be an application for a grazing licence.
(6) An official receipt showing the amount of the renewal fee payable in pursuance of subregulation (3) and the total amount of the rent payable for the whole period of the renewal shall be sufficient proof that the licence has been renewed. The land that he acquired extended from Wereboldera back to the Gilmore Creek. The home he lived in was called "Westwood" which was located about 2 miles from the Tumut township on the Tumut Plains Road
Mr Frederick Wheeler Vyner married Miss Margaret Jemima Robinson, sister of Mr James Robinson of "Kimo" Nangus, NSW.
