Mates, - Can you find the names of the Pearce brothers killed at Gallipoli.

The details are these.

The brothers Carl DCo/14Bn served on Gallipoli and was KIA with the Camel Corps in March 1918. He is stated to have four brothers of who three were killed during the war.

Of these Stanley Garrett Pearce 5Bn KIA in France is known and the NOK details give Richard and Esther Pearce. These are different then those of Carl.

Now the details of the two killed on gallipoli are not known other then one was killed around the landing while the other is beleived killed at Lone Pine.

My seaches have pulled up no names with these NOk's as Stanley so do you have any in site.

The only brother to live was Edward with the 3 LHR but his NOK is his wife in Burnie Tas.

Cheers one for the weekend to check out.

S.B

P.S Just to trick you Carl Pearce in spelled "Pearse" on the Embark roll also see details on ADFA site. S.B

Steve:Your inquiry opens up the fascinating subject of how many brothers served on Gallipoli in the Light Horse.

In the 8LH there were the three brothers Mack- Ernie,Jack and Stan. All survived Gallipoli although Ernie ( commissioned after surviving The Nek) was later killed near Magdhaba. Look forward to learning more. brian.evans Forum Member

Australia - 18 Posts Posted - 04/06/2005 : 7:10:19 PM Steve, I checked the NAA site for Pearce with Buninyong and then Ballarat and found Carl. His record has been altered to show Father as R. Pearce at 1 or 7 Airlie Ave in Vic. Francis Joseph shows this address and refers to William as his brother. William has 2 records and they are not a good fit. Couldn't find William on the Oz-Boer data base ... he refers to Thorneycroft. I hope that this is useful. Brian Bryn Advanced Forum Member

Without all the details on all of the men here (I didn't include details on the NZers because you're searching for Aust. Soldiers), it seems that maybe Tpr ECH Pearce is the only one to have had a brother (Dudley Hogarth Pearce) die at Gallipoli, and he was with the British army, killed at Chocolate Hill, Suvla.

BUT - there is no reference to any other brothers of these two being killed

1664 Posts Posted - 05/06/2005 : 5:35:35 PM Thanks Mates, Yes its a hard one this.

Brian, Ref - Francis Pearce he is not listed on the family roll written by Carl's sister after the war which shows the brothers in the family. Its in Carl's Service Record.

This list shows the following; (it has only initals which I have added to for reference)

Father Richard 7 Airlie Ave Armadale Vic

Mother died.

Fist Brother - killed at Landing (No name)

2nd Brother - E.Pearce 80 Langridge St Collingwood Vic (didn't serve)

3rd Brother - Edward from Burnie Tas (3 LHR)

4th Brother - William from Burwood (didn't serve)

5th Brother - killed Lone Pine (no name)

6th Brother - Carl (KIA Camel Corps Amman) and

7th Brother - Stanley (KIA 5Bn France)

There are also three sister's, those were the days of big families.

Just to help Edward was 31 years when he enlisted while Carl was 23, stan was the baby on the boys 22 on enlistment in 1916.

Carl's record shows NOK's as Sister - Louie Fyfe 4 Aberdeen St Auburn Vic,

She moved to 169 Camberwell Rd Upper Hawthorn Vic, and to 80 Langridge St Collingwood Vic

The last address is the fathers R. Pearce 7 Airlie Ave Armidale Vic.

Stanley shows only Richard and Ester of 1 (changed to 7) Airlie Ave Armidale Vic.

Francis as mention is 7 Airlie Ave Armidale and his brother William is show living there as NOK.

All these don't jell with the names by Bryn or did I find them on the many searches I did?

Looks like I am at a loss and call it quites. Another wasted weekend. There was a time long ago when a wasted weekend ment another thing.

Cheers S.B
