Family Notices - BIRTH -

On the 9th January, 1868, at her residence, Talbingo, Tumut, Mrs. O. LAMPE, of a daughter. - (Ref- The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW: 1842-1954) Tuesday 21 January 1868).

1877 - TUMUT. [FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.] I The weather still keeps dry, signs of rain continually appear, but, beyond the merest apology for a shower, no rain falls. The country around loóks parched and brown; travelling stock and sheep have consumed every available green blade. Drovers, at present bound for tho mountain country, prefer the route by Tumbarumba. The Tumut river has dwindled to a shallow stream. The heat during the daytime continues excessive, the glass frequently registering 96 degrees in the shade, but the nights and mornings begin to assume an autumnal coolness. Unless copious rain visits us before frosts set in tho coming winter will be one of terrible severity.

Mr. E. G. Brown has recently sold, on behalf of Mrs. Lampe, the upper portion of the "Talbingo run to Mr. James Gibb, of Berthong Station, near Young; also, to Mr. F. Mellon, of Goburagandra, 000 maiden ewes and 600 aged sheep.

On Thursday last, at public auction, Mr. Brown disposed of a small lot of cattle including milk cows, at fair prices; young mixed cattle averaged 35s. per head ; useful-horses realised from £2 to £9 10s. per head. Mr. S. M. Swift has this week sold to Messrs. Kiley, Brothers, of Spring Creek, two lots, viz., 3300 and 30Ö0 two-tooth wethers, bred on tho Cuba Station, Lower Murrumbidgee. Mr. ? Swift has lately purchased, in the Riverina district, 48,000 young sheep, 2200 of which havo gone to tho Gwydir district, 14,000 aro depasturing at the Gulf Station, near Kiandra, and the remainder are on their way to the mountains. Mr. Swift hopes, by judicious management, to be able to winter his sheep in tho Alpino pastures. The present season is evidently detrimental to health, as sickness is very prevalent.-February 20.- (Ref- The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842 - 1954)(about) Previous issue Friday 23 February 1877).

1878 - Tumut - 990O sheep (Mr J Gibbs), on their way from South Talbingo to Berthong to be shorn, passed through last week.- (Ref- The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842 - 1954)(about) Previous issue Thursday 10 October 1878).

1886 - FRIDAY, 17th INSTANT. BROWN BROS.. and .CO. have received instruction. from H L Lampe Esq. Talbingo, to sell by public auction, at the Camperdown Yards, on FRIDAY, 17th Instant, at 2.30 p.m. 35 HEAD of WELL-BRED HORSES, consisting of saddle and harness horses and well-bred young unbroken colts and fillies, suitablo for hacks, cabmen, and omnibus proprietors. They are all in good condition, aro mountain-bred horses, and come direct from the breeder. Hoi-Bta from thiB stud are noted for their hardiness and durabillty, and will stand any amount of work. - (Ref- The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842 - 1954)(about) Previous issue Monday 13 December 1886).
